MARION - Police in Marion have arrested a West Frankfort man after he attempted to lure female healthcare employees into his vehicle and later attempted to disarm a police officer.

According to police, on Monday, March 6, at approximately 5:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to SIH Urgent Care in response to a report of a suspicious person circling the parking lot.

An officer later approached the vehicle and attempted to speak with the driver. After repeated attempts to get the driver to comply with commands, the driver charged at the officer.

The officer deployed his issued Taser, which had no effect on the male. A struggle ensued and the male attempted to take the officers service weapon out of the holster.

The MPD officer was able to remotely access the police K-9 vehicle with a control and a K-9 was able to restrain the suspect, identified as Keith B. Hendrix, 41, of West Frankfort.

Hendrix was transported to the Heartland Regional Medical Center for treatment and later transported to the Williamson County Jail pending a court appearance.
