CARTERVILLE - Police in Carterville, Illinois are investigating after a male was found deceased in the backyard of an apartment Monday morning. 

Police responded to the scene on Timber Trail just after 8:00 a.m. Monday. Upon arrival, police located a deceased male subject laying in the backyard of an apartment building.

Police say foul play is not suspected at this time, but an autopsy on the victim has been set for Thursday at the Williamson County Coroner's Office. 

Illinois State Police are assisting Carterville Police in the investigation.
