MARION - One person was critically injured following a house fire early this morning in Marion.

According to the Marion Fire Department, they were dispatched to 1805 Holmes Drive around 3:18 a.m. for a structure fire with a confirmed entrapment. 

Upon arrival, heavy dark smoke was observed from the front door. Fire crews immediately entered the structure, and the victim was located inside the structure and removed.

The rescued victim was transported to the hospital and is currently in critical condition with life threatening injuries.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Marion Fire Department and the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal. No further information is available at this time.
