MARION - A combined Mexican restaurant and creamery in Marion will be closing their doors, restaurant management announced tonight.

Laura Chairez, owner of La Galeria Mexican Cuisine, took to the restaurants Facebook page on Saturday night to announce their permanent closure.

"I started this journey a few years ago with the idea of bringing authentic, beautiful, and unique Mexican dishes to the people of Southern Illinois, and for 3 years, we did just that. I'm thankful for each and every one of you who walked in through our doors to sit at our tables and enjoy one of our meals, paletas, and/or ice cream," Chairez said.

Next week will be the last week the restaurant is open. More information is available on their Facebook page.
