BENTON - Louise Harrison, a Benton, IL native and the eldest sister of Beatle George Harrison, has died at the age of 91.

According to her family, she passed away while receiving care at a Florida nursing home.

Harrison lived in the Midwest for the majority of her life, and played a major role in putting Benton on the map in relation to George Harrison.

Harrison is known for promoting George's band on local radio in Southern Illinois before their debut nationwide on the Ed Sullivan Show.

George Harrison visited his sister in Southern Illinois just four months before their appearance.

A mural was later constructed in Benton along Interstate 57 paying homage to George, his sister, and their connection to Southern Illinois.
