HERRIN - The Herrin school community is mourning the sudden loss of a student in a vehicle accident that occurred over Christmas break.

Herrin High School released the following statement on Wednesday afternoon...

"Today, Herrin High School was informed of some heartbreaking news. Over Christmas Break one of our seniors, Cemya Williams, died in an automobile accident while visiting family outside the area. We would like to extend our deepest condolences to Cemya's family during this difficult time. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. If any student, faculty, or staff member needs to speak with someone, our counseling department will be available first thing tomorrow morning."
