MARION - Former star Miners player Ralph Santana was announced as the new manager today for a wood bat baseball team beginning play this season in Marion.

"After a lot of consideration I have decided to move into a new opportunity in Marion with the Black Diamond Group, the new hitting and pitching facility (the old SI Elite building) and I will be Field Manager for the new Expansion Team calling Rent One Park home. I am beyond excited about all of the possibilities ahead of me," Santana said.

Santana says he is actively recruiting college players for the Expansion Team, and three local players, Kale Cameron and Josh Griffin of Marion and Alex Zimmerman of DuQuoin, were introduced as the first three local natives signed to the team today.
