Opening date set for Franklin County Courthouse

BENTON - An official ribbon cutting / opening date for the new Franklin County Courthouse has been set for April 22, 2022.

According to the Benton / West City Area Chamber of Commerce, the dedication and commissioning ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Following the event, there will be tours available of the three-story courthouse for those attending.

According to the Chamber, a 48-page commemorative booklet will be published that will contain editorial content and many pictures of the old courthouse, the demolition and a variety of pictures of the different phases of the new construction. A copy of the booklet will be give free to everybody who tours the new courthouse.

A souvenir coin, with a picture of the old courthouse on one side and the new courthouse on the other, will be given to everybody who takes the tour.

Refreshments will be available for no charge after the tour. At this time, no official date has been set for when official business / court will begin inside the building.
