One hurt in overnight fire at West Frankfort apartment building

WEST FRANKFORT - One person was hurt following an overnight fire at an apartment building in West Frankfort.

Crews were called to Anna Gray High Rise on E. Main Street around 3 a.m. for the report of a structure fire in an apartment unit on the second floor.

The fire was contained to the unit, and one person was transported to a local hospital with injuries.

Abbott EMS, along with fire crews from West Frankfort, Benton, Zeigler, Johnston City, Buckner and Carterville assisted at the scene.

Herrin Fire Department provided station coverage for West Frankfort. 

An investigation is ongoing. As of 8 a.m., the apartment has been reopened.
