Old King Coal Festival begins tonight in West Frankfort

WEST FRANKFORT - The annual Old King Coal Festival will be kicking off tonight in West Frankfort.

The Midway opens at 5 p.m. this evening with family night with all rides taking one ticket on the midway.

The festival welcomes The Hollerboys on Thursday night, making their debut performance at Old King Coal. The Hollerboys will take the main stage at 7 p.m.

The group won the 2018 “Modern Country Group of the Year” at the world’s largest independent music awards at Dollywood. Currently they travel throughout the Midwest promoting their new single “Burn It Down”.

Several Old King Coal favorites return, performing on the main stage are: Friday night “Hoot N Holler Band” and Johnathan Len,. Saturday Night it’s “The Brat Pack” and” Rockin’ Terry Lee”.

On Saturday the Coal Miners Memorial Service begins at 10 a.m. at Coal Miners Memorial Park, the midway opens at 1 p.m. and the Grand Parade begins at 1 p.m. just east of Route 37 on Main Street and ends at St. John’s Catholic Church in the 700 block of East Main.

The midway opens at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon and will close at 5 p.m.. All rides are one ticket on Sunday. Spectators are urged to bring a lawn chair for the Coal Miners Memorial Service as well as the parade and all main stage events. All concerts are free and there will be plenty of vendors on hand.
