Man threatens people with knife on Carbondale Amtrak train; facing charges

CARBONDALE - A man has been arrested in Carbondale after threatening passengers on an Amtrak train with a knife overnight.
According to police, they were called to the station at approximately 2:45 a.m. this morning for a report of a man threatening people with a knife after he was removed from the train by Amtrak employees.
Officers located the suspect, later identified as Charles Pearson, 80, of Chicago, armed with a knife. Pearson attempted to get back on the train.
Pearson complied with officers when they ordered him to drop the knife and he was placed in custody without further incident.
Pearson was charged with Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Pearson was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.
