CARTERVILLE - At least two horses and several livestock have been harmed by a "dangerous animal" in the Carterville area over the past week.

WFCN News spoke with two local farm / land owners on Thursday who tell us that an animal attacked their livestock earlier this week.

Most of the reports have come from the area of Sycamore Road northwest of Carterville, expanding into the Cambria area.

Two animal sightings have reportedly resembled a cougar, however, authorities have not confirmed any information on the animal at this time.

Local pet owners and farmers are encouraged to keep a close eye on their animals should a similar incident occur.

If you see dangerous wildlife in your area, you can report the sighting to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources by clicking here.
